Are you a new Amputee? We are here to help

A prosthesis can last anywhere from two to five years depending on factors like usage, maintenance, and the materials used. The prosthesis itself can wear down but it's not likely to "break". However, components may need repairs or replacements over time and a refit might be needed if the limb loses or gains volume.
